How to Make a Vintage, Horror Movie Title Design

In today's tutorial, we are creating your own classic, retro, horror movie title from the 1950s. The project file contains a picture of the march, 2 textures of film scratches, and a Green fuzz font. You can download everything for free here. Let the fun begin.

Step 1
Open up your March image, click on the adjustment layer icon, click on the Color Lookup. In the Load 3D Lust, choose Night from Day. Cube. Reduce the opacity to around 80%. Click back on the adjustment layer icon and choose Black and White

To increase the size of the character, highlight it, and type in a larger number size. To shift the characters up or down, highlight them and go to Window and Character. The character panel will open, slide the Baseline Shift icon to the left or to the right to shift the characters down or up. To slide the entire word to the left or right, place your cursor to the left of the first character and hold down Alt as you press the right or left arrow key. To open or to close the amount of the space between two characters, place your cursor between them and hold down Alt as you press the right or left arrow key. To slide the entire word up or down, highlight it and slide the Leading icon to the left or right.

Step 3
Go to Type - Warp text, choose Rise, tick Horizontal and change the Bend to 10%

Step 4

Step 5
Go to Filter - Blur - Radial Blur, make the Amount 100, the Blur method Zoom, and the Quality Best. Decries the Opacity to 50%.

Make the Radial Blur Short layer active, go back to Filter - Blur - Radial Blur, make the Amount 25, change the Blending Mode to Soft Light.

Make the Motion Blur layer active, go to Filter - Blur - Motion Blur, rotate the line on the dial to a similar angel of your text, make the Distance 10 pixels.

Step 6
Next, we will add a foggy mist to the march. Make the Original layer active and click the new layer icon to make a new layer above it, fill it with black color. Go to Filter - Render - Clouds, change the Blending Mode to Overlay.

Step 7
Next, we will make the bottom of the title more transparent so it looks like it's emerging from the marsh. Make the Original layer active and click the layer icon to make a layer mask next to it. Change the color to black. Open the brush tool, choose a relatively large size, hardness 0% set the Opacity to 80%. Open up the Brush panel and make that only Smoothing is check. Brush across the bottom of your title to reveal the background. Copy the layer mask to the Motion Blur layer by holding down the Alt as you drag the layer mask down next to Motion Blur.

Go to File - Place Embedded and pick both of the textures and change their Blending Mode to Multiply.

And that is it. Our horror, vintage text is done. Thanks for reading the article I hope you liked it, and we’ll read on in the next one. 😀😀
