How to Make Circle Typography

In this fun tutorial, I'm going to show you how to make circle typography using Illustrator. Let the fun begins.

Step 1

Open a new document in Adobe Illustrator and create a circle, size 300px by 300px. This will serve us as a text guide. Align the center of the image, press Ctrl + 2 to lock the selection. Type the text. In this project, I will use the words “Future Design”. First, use the Ariel font to enter the word Future, then make a copy and type the word Desing. Align the texts with the center of the artwork and ensure that the texts are within the circle.

Step 2

Select the first word (future), go to Object - Expand make sure that the Object and Fill check.

Next, go to Object - Envelope Distort - Make With Mash. Set the Rows and Columns to 3.

Step 3

We will now move individual parts of the text to the end of the circle. This part requires a little practice, but if nothing else, we will make a unique shape. Use the Direction Selection tool (white arrow) to select the anchor points in the text and move it up.

We have three rows so try to move row by row.

To easily create beautifully curved lines, that are connected to fixed points, move a Bezier Curve.  You can see my post How to use the Pen tool in Illustrator. Do the same steps for the second text (design).

 Step 4

When you are happy with the shape of your text, delete the circle, and align both texts to the middle of the artboard. Select the first word, go to Object - Expand make sure that the Object and Fill is check. Do the same steps for the second word. Group both texts.

Step 5

In this last step, we will add a gradient color, but first, we will add a stroke behind our text to elevate the text. Make a copy of the text, and go to Object - Path - Offset Pats. Set the Offset to 10px, Joins to Round, and Miter Limit to 2. Select the copy text, go to Pathfinder, and click on Unite to get one shape. Select any colors that you're want to use for gradient and color the copy text. Right-click and select Arrange - Sent to Back. Change the color of your main text in white and alight both text layers.

And that's it, folks we are done. Thanks for reading the article I hope you liked it, and we’ll read on in the next one.😀😀
